The "first" last First...

Beck went in for his 4 month check up on Friday, 16.8 lbs. and 27 inches, 75-90% in weight and 95%+ in height. glad to see he's at least coming down on the weight chart =)...anyways, he got the not so fun shots that gave him a temp and made him a monster through sat. night, those are always fun. Doc said we could start him on some cereal and thus we did. Its really all bitter sweet for me. Part of me is super excited because its something new for him, the other part of me is sad because, seeing as this is our last little person, I know its the last set of firsts we'll all get to experience. He did really well with it surprisingly. Made very little mess and ate an entire tablespoon which is a good bit for the first go around. I'm playing around with the idea of making my own baby food when he's ready for it. I didn't ever try it with Ky, but I'm home now so I have the time, its cheaper, which is always nice, and I have to imagine it has to be at least a little better for them than the canned stuff. We'll see...

Kylie came hope from school on Friday and out of the blue recited to me the entire pledge of allegiance. It was pretty impressive. We've been hard at work with her learning her letters. Playing Boggle Jr. and games on the computer. I'm super impressed with how well she's doing. She struggles a little bit at times with the letters F, R, and sometimes gets E and A mixed up...i think because they can sometimes make similar sounds. At some point I would love to start her on site words. We found this great site for practicing letters...www.starfall.com, and dolchkit.com for site words when we get there and are ready for them. Today she has a birthday party to go to at a gym and next week is Great Wolf Lodge with her cousin Peyton. She's been waiting for this day for quite sometime. Here are some pics of the first feeding and some other random moments...

Can you say SNOW???

What a crazy winter it has been in Dallas for sure with a record snow fall! After it snowed over Christmas and Kylie wanted nothing to do with it, I figured it would be the same this time. Boy was I wrong. She was outside playing off and on for three days straight and I literally had to drag her in more than once so she could defrost. She hated wearing her snow gloves b/c she couldn't really maneuver the snow, so instead she wore cloth ones which she soaked through rather quickly. Her and Jason made many snowmen, snow angels, and even had a couple snow ball fights. Me? I stayed inside and took pictures through the window of course (Not a fan of cold, or snow). The weather put a damper on Ky's party and so they're set to exchange valentines today instead. She didn't mind too much, as long as she could go out and play!

Beck has slept the last two nights in his own room. I can't explain how nice it is to have our bedroom back. I can now brush my teeth at night in the bathroom instead of the kitchen sink in fear that I will wake him up. He's doing really well with the transition, only woke up once each night just b/c he was fidgety. Although it took me a while to get him to sleep last night and every time I left the room I could see that Kylie was still up b/c of all his crying. I guess I should have thought about the fact that the two bedrooms are next door to each other when I fell in love with our house's floor plan. I'm hoping to get at least another month of him sleeping through the night before the teething starts, but we'll see if we're that lucky. He turns 4 months old today and at the rate that he's been drooling, I have a feeling that he'll start teething early.

On Valentine's Day we went to service, ordered pizza for dinner, and Kylie invited Makenzie over for a playdate which consisted of much lip gloss and baby role playing...I'm pretty sure they both managed to take turns in Beck's exersaucer too. What is it with kids and baby stuff???

Weekend Goals...

Well...(knock on wood) Beck is sleeping through the night again. Usually nursing around 9:30, and getting up around 7am...with this in mind, I believe it is time to reclaim my bedroom, thus, our weekend goal is to get Beck out of the bassinet and into his own crib in his room. Can't wait for this to happen! Excited to have my nightstand back and it not be full of wipes, diapers, burp clothes, etc...I've started him napping in there yesterday, and it's going so-so, he's waking up after about an hour (not his usual two hour naps), but I figured we gotta start somewhere.

The snow has been falling here consistently all day. I don't mind too much as long as it doesn't cancel Ky's Valentine party at her school tomorrow. She's been so excited to take all her homemade valentine's and show all her friends. They switched seats at school and now Ky is sitting next to Dillon who is this blue eyed, blond haired, cute-as-a-button boy that's about a foot shorter than Kylie and absolutely adorable. Anyways, she's been talking about how funny he is and she asked if she could have him over to play. So, I'm hopefully going to talk to his mom at the party and see if they want to set up a play date. Hence...I believe Kylie has her first "almost" boyfriend, which is alright w/ me b/c he's a keeper =), not so sure her daddy agrees though...

Valentines Prep and Birthday party!

Saturday was a busy day for Kylie and I. We started by going over to her friend Makenzie's house to make valentine's for the girls' friends at their schools. Although Stephanie and I ended up doing most of the work, the girls had fun with the crafts in the beginning and then enjoyed playing the rest of the morning. When we went back to check on them they were playing in the bedroom, in the dark, all three of them cuddled up under the covers...cutest thing ever. So nice to see that they're finally at the age where they can play and you don't have to watch them 24/7...In the afternoon, we went to a birthday party with a pirate theme...which was super cute. Some of the pics are from decorating valentines and the others are from the bday party.

Beck is growing up so fast I almost can't believe it. We introduced him to the exersaucer and he loves it! Although he's not really big enough to reach out and play with things on it yet, he LOVES sitting up and watching us while being able to kick out his legs.

I'm very excited about kylie's valentine's day party on friday at her school. it's sure to be a fun time! our plans for the weekend? i'm getting my hair cut and a facial on Sat. (happy vday to me!) and then we're doing the regular...which is pizza and wine (the last part just J of course)...hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Beck is finally starting to get back to normal after being sick. I didn't realize how out of it he really was until he started acting like the old Beckster again. This little cold really seemed to rock his world. There is nothing worse than a sick baby. The doctor decided to put him on antibiotics because it seemed he just couldn't get rid of all the mucus, and after five days he's finally feeling better. Since he's on medicine though, I am very weary of him getting his shots, so we'll wait until he goes in for his four month check up. This will put him a month behind, but my mommy instinct tells me that shots on top of meds just aren't a good combo. Anyway, for his three month check up he weighed in at 16 lbs...that's right, over 95 percentile, 90% for height and 75% for head circumference. We have recently introduced beck to the jumper, and he's a big fan. He loves to look at all the lights and listen to the sound. I'm surprised he likes it because kylie hated that thing...you know what they say, no two kids are the same!

Kylie also went in for her 4 yr. check up, took two shots like a champ, and walked out with some stickers. Crazy to think there is only one more shot she'll need next year and then she'll be all ready to start kindergarden (don't even want to think of that yet). Ky weighed in at 38 lbs, and they took her blood pressure for the first time too which she thought was really cool. She liked how the armband "hugged" her arm (so funny). We're having a playdate with some friends from church today and then getting together with friends to make valentine's for ky's school party this weekend, I'll be sure to post pics soon!
